What Is Cosmetic Dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry is any dental treatment that restores the appearance of your teeth. Cosmetic dental procedures are usually optional and strictly for looks, but some procedures can also restore the structure of your tooth.

Restorative dentistry can improve the appearance of your gums and teeth, but cosmetic dental procedures can provide you with the extra boost you may need to feel completely comfortable showing off your smile.

Our cosmetic dentist, Dr. Arbuckle, takes on all kinds of cosmetic dental cases and can help you get the results you’re looking for!

What Patients Are Saying about Our Practice

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are restorations that fit over a damaged tooth. Our dentist will first have to remove any damaged or decaying enamel and reshape your tooth for the crown placement. Crowns can restore your confidence and your ability to eat.

If you are missing a tooth, your crown can be supported by a dental implant. Dental implants are titanium posts that replace your tooth roots and support a dental restoration. If you need a dental implant, we can refer you to an oral surgeon, and we can fit you for a crown.

Veneers

Veneers are porcelain shells that fit over the front of your tooth to conceal imperfections like chips, cracks, misalignment, gaps, discoloration, and misshapen teeth. A small amount of enamel is removed from the front of your tooth to make room for the veneer, your tooth is etched to create a better bonding surface, and the veneer is cemented in place.

A dentist can place one or several veneers, depending on your needs. According the the American Dental Association, veneers last up to 10 years on average before they will need to be replaced.

Teeth Whitening

If you have stains or discoloration, teeth whitening may be able to lift these stains and brighten your smile. Compared to store-bought whitening kits, teeth whitening with a professional is safer and can give you faster results. Our Wilton, CT, office offers two kinds of teeth whitening:

*In-office teeth whitening treatment takes one visit to our dental office and can be completed in under an hour.

Composite Fillings

Cavities in your teeth are unsightly, painful, and must be treated by a dentist. Our dentist can remove the decayed area of the tooth and fill it with a composite material that matches the color of your tooth. This procedure can restore the appearance and function of your tooth.

Dental Bonding

Chips and cracks in your teeth can draw the eye, but your cosmetic dentist can fix them by using a special light to bond composite resin to the affected area. This dental procedure can treat many of the same imperfections that veneers can but is more affordable.

It may take a combination of different dentistry procedures and a few appointments to restore your smile, but our family at Wilton Dental Care can help you every step of the way. We can inform you of your options and help you decide on a treatment to fix the imperfections in your smile.

How Much Is Cosmetic Dentistry?

While your insurance will contribute to the cost of restorative dentistry, cosmetic procedures that are optional will likely have to be paid for out-of-pocket. At Wilton Dental Care, we are happy to give all patients an estimate of the cost before they begin treatment.

Our dental practice offers in-house financing so we can work with our patients to come up with a payment plan within their budget. We also accept CareCredit®, which allows patients to pay in affordable monthly installments.
